About you: To support our growth, we’re looking for a General Manager. A General Manager for Food+ supervises the overall success of the operation adhering to the Client’s culture and guidelines, the Health Department’s regulations, and Compass’s standards and expectations of food quality, freshness and presentation.The General Manager will also oversee new Café openings as well as analyze the Cafés financials. If you can maintain and continually teach a good work ethic as well as motivate, train, develop and direct staff to accomplish the goals and objectives of the operation to the satisfaction of the customers, then this job is for you! You must be able to solve problems professionally, rapidly and fairly and maintain a working relationship with the client.

Essential duties & responsibilities:

  • Oversee that high quality food items are creatively well prepared and presented in a cost effective manner in cafes and catering.

  • Maintain Food+ food standards and follows purchasing guidelines in all programs, including farm to fork.

  • Meet and exceed the expectations of the customer and client perceived value.

  • Oversee taste process and adherence to recipes.

Supervision and Development of Staff

  • Hire, train and supervise the management team.

  • Supervise the adherence to proper uniform standards following the employee handbook and established account guidelines.

  • Conduct all Manager reviews, counseling sessions, and disciplinary actions in a professional and timely manner.

  • Identify management that possess motivation and skills for advancement, assists in their development.

Financial Management and Analysis

  • Follow all Food+ requirements as outlined in the Accounting Manual.

  • Formulate Food+ and Client budgets with operational standards and client vision in mind.

  • Analyze the Balanced Scorecard and makes forecasting adjustments quarter to quarter for the units while continuing to hit overall company forecast.

Safety and Sanitation

  • Adhere to all Health Department, OSHA and ADA regulations.

  • Report any injury, accident and/or foodborne illness incident for customers and/or staff accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Utilize Personal Protective Equipment when in kitchens and service areas.

Customer Service and Client Relations

  • Treat all customers with professionalism, care and respect.

  • Respond to all comments and complaints within 24 hours and follows up with a written or verbal response with copies to the DM and Client.

  • Communicate with the client honestly, accurately and in a timely manner.

Retail Management

  • Ensure that all café operations meet great expectations standards.

  • Oversee and contribute to the successful opening of all new Cafés.

Overall Management

  • Meet all timelines for quarter and year-end reports given by Client and Compass.

  • Teach and adhere to Food+ philosophy, culture and commitment to quality food and service, as outlined in great expectations.

  • Take overall ownership of the account.

  • Have a passion for quality food preparation and taste.

  • Have knowledge of and enforces the Client/Food+ contractual agreement.
