About you: To support our growth, we’re looking for a Global Director of Culinary to join our Leadership team. The role is based in the Bay Area. In this newly created role you will lead an incredible team; together you will develop innovative culinary solutions/trends and drive the integrated food and beverage strategy for Food+ by Compass.

The Global Director of Culinary will oversee the strategy and central development for a diverse foodservice portfolio ranging from sit down restaurants, express, specialty markets to large events and more! This role leads the planning, resourcing and and creation of a thoughtfully integrated program with a balanced approach to delicious food, wellbeing, sustainability and driving efficiencies. This inspiring leader will bring strategic and multi-unit experience in the restaurant, hospitality, retail, or a related service industry to evolve the current and future state of our program. The Global Director of Culinary will also be responsible for creating an inclusive environment that encourages innovation and collaboration combined with an analytical mindset, and scalable approach to operations that meet commercial requirements of the business.

The great things you’ll do:

  • Menu Strategy: Lead the central team that collaborates with regional culinary and subject matter experts to develop an holistic menu strategy that delivers on core program values, user experience and delivers efficiencies at scale

  • Menu Management: Develop a systematized approach to recipe creation, cataloging, menu development, forecasting and reporting

  • Operationalize: Ensure regional chefs and operations teams are prepared for successful deployment

  • Scale: Develop culinary programs and solutions for a multi-unit, global and complex environment to drive consistency

  • Analyze: Identify success metrics that align program values, customer experience, operational excellence and financial requirements

  • Strategic Procurement: Work closely with procurement team to drive menu quality and efficiencies

  • Lead: Create and develop multi-functional team

  • Inspire: Instill passion for great food and improving food ecosystem

  • Educate: Serve as the primary culinary subject matter expert in order to educate team members on the latest trends

  • Develop: Partner with learning and development and training team to establish training protocols for all areas of culinary, including new menu items and food safety

  • Collaborate: Work closely with the other subject matter experts: branded concepts, nutrition, sustainability, procurement, marketing and multi-country stakeholders to establish new concepts, recipes, menus

What we look for in the perfect candidate:

  • Culinary Arts degree from a recognized culinary school or Certified Executive Chef

  • Fifteen years of progressive career growth in food service management

  • Multi-unit experience

  • Management including development of menus, concepts and strategy

  • Strong experience and in depth knowledge of menu management systems

  • Experience guiding strategic procurement at scale

  • Ability to work in cross-functional, complex and matrixed environment

  • Contract management

  • International experience

  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal

  • Strong training and mentoring skills

  • Analytical and problem solving skills and sound decision making ability based on business needs

  • Serve-Safe Certification
