About you: To support our growth, we’re looking for a Senior Communications Manager. You will play an integral part in developing, planning and executing our strategic communications including internal storytelling, external employer branding, thought leadership and issue management. As a senior leader you will partner closely with the global leadership teams, and our client to develop the overall strategic approach including strengthening employee engagement, supporting organizational and culture change, and bringing the talent approach to life. You will lead a team to execute on the strategy and key partner talent initiatives and recommend new strategies that support partner and employer brand development. The role will be based in Sunnyvale, CA. 

The great things you’ll do:

  • Marketing and Communications Strategy:
    Define overall communication needs, develop detailed communication strategy, and lead execution of the plan. Partner with the Global Director of HR and Global Director of Marketing to ensure all communication messages and vehicles are connected to the overall Food+ People strategy and Food+ business priorities. Develop and lead execution for driving awareness and building excitement around the employer brand both internally and externally. Bring a creative, fresh perspective to communicating across all internal channels, with a specific emphasis on how to best tell stories of Food+ to strengthen employee engagement and culture. Support and navigate issue/crisis situations to protect brand image and optimal outcome. Develop creative strategies for communicating to employees by planning the frequency of, and vehicles for, communications and coordinate across different areas of the business and the company. Lead and collaborate on integrated message strategies that build understanding of program. Support MCE to drive strategic programs that deliver on shared partner goals.

  • Strategic Business Partner / Stakeholder management:
    Work closely with leaders and partner with teams in our People Operations organization to lead on internal people and culture, strategic communications campaigns, come up with innovative ways to engage employees that are in tune with Food+ culture, and write communications, business update presentations, and talking points. Interact with and influence executives, and provide advice that reflects an understanding of their business and leadership style. Engage external and community partners to support goals and mission.

  • Project management:
    Coordinate and execute logistics around events on hot topics and internal reorganizations. Project manage internal communications, strategic plans, and initiatives from beginning to end.

  • Leadership:
    Effectively lead a team, manage key stakeholder relationships across the business (Regional Food Service Directors, the global Food team, partner leadership team, Compass Global team, and the MCE team both locally and globally).

  • What we look for in the perfect candidate:
    10+ years of marketing experience with a focus on brand development and internal communications. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Proven experience in partnering with/within an operational team. Ability to navigate across multiple stakeholders and partner organizations. Experience interacting directly with client stakeholders. Self-starter who can work well both independently and across multi-level stakeholder groups. Strategic thinker with a proven track record of seeing projects through from concept to post-mortem. Thrives in a fast-paced, startup-like environment. Interest in food, communication, culture, and new advertising trends and techniques.
