About you: To support our growth we’re looking for a Head of Catering to drive excellence in the service and experience of our amazing operation! You will develop the strategy and lead the projects that will change the way people see, interact and enjoy food! Support successful performance of all catering operations. Identify, motivate, train, develop and direct your incredible team to deliver exceptional service and accomplish daily goals and projects. This position oversees the administrative and operational tasks, including financial management and analysis. This position will leverage their strong communication, hospitality and operational skills to partner with key stakeholders such as culinary, nutrition, marketing, behavioral science, concept development, procurement, risk management, operations and people approach.

  • Sets and mentors an expectation of hospitality that is friendly and engaging

  • Has a passion for creating experiences, quality food preparation and taste

  • Leads both short and long range hospitality and operational projects from strategy through implementation

  • Provides high level partnership with our client partner to achieve operational excellence

  • Partners with the Catering Head Chef to foster operational excellence in catering operations

  • Trains and develops the management team. Identifies future talent

  • Conducts all general manager and manager reviews, coaching sessions, and disciplinary actions in a professional and timely manner

  • Monitors and manages all financial responsibilities including budgets and forecasts

  • Ensures all sector and Compass employee guidelines are implemented and adhered to

  • Creates a culture of food and workplace safety

  • Treats all customers with professionalism, care and respect

  • Responds to all comments and complaints within 24 hours and follows up with a written or verbal response with copies to the DM and our partner

  • Communicates with our partner honestly, accurately and in a timely manner

  • Ensure the catering teams work within budget while maintaining standards

  • Ensure the catering teams are focused on financial profitability

  • Ensures that the catering operations meet great expectations standards

  • Commitment to growing the business with both external and internal strategy

  • Meets all timelines for quarter and year-end reports given by our partner and Sector Employer

What we look for in the perfect candidate:

  • 7+ years successful event management experience, planning and running mid-large B2B corporate events - conferences breakfast briefing, VIP dinners, exhibitions, roadshows

  • Solid understanding of the best and latest event technologies

  • Exceptional project direction and management skills, ability to manage multiple timelines, deadlines, action in a collaborative extremely fast paced environment

  • Strong experience in creating and designing event programs, including event themes, messaging, branding, content, out of the box ideas and creative approaches to improving client engagement and interaction 

  • Excellent client management experiences, confident in building relationships and pitching new ideas to senior stakeholders

  • Excellent problem solving skills, able to come up with solutions and overcome obstacles 

  • Strong collaboration and leadership skills 

  • Self-motivation, initiative and high energy

  • Has high personal standards and promotes them in others

  • Clear and confident decision making
