I look up to Kazuko Shimazaki, owner of Sunday Bake Shop in Tokyo. Her love and passion for food and creativity inspires me as a pastry chef. It’s my dream to own a bakery shop like her.

I look up to my mom. It is incredible how she managed everything in her life: raising four children with a lot of love and care, even if it wasn't always easy, how she is still learning new things, has a huge understanding and is always taking care of everyone.

I am inspired by Michelle Obama and her mantra that encourages women to “live out loud.” It means that we should talk about our accomplishments, realize that our ideas and contributions are powerful, and be our whole selves. She embodies this with such grace and I hope to as well!

Having just returned from maternity leave, I’ve drawn inspiration from, and admiration of, the growing social media presence of working mums.

I'm a huge fan of the writer J.K. Rowling not because of her famous books, but because of the fact that she has worked bravely to succeed as a writer. Also, she has donated a big part of her earnings, something I admire very much about her.

I’m inspired by Frida Kahlo in how she took her pain, troubles and sheer bad luck and transformed them into strength and beauty. She was unapologetically herself; that energy is one I hope to channel more of as I strive to turn each obstacle into an opportunity.

I look up to Harriet Tubman because she was amazingly strong, selfless and courageous. I look up to Alice Waters because she embodies power for positive change. She paved the road for those of us who support a sustainable and free-range future for cuisine.

My best friend Emma had a stroke the morning after her 25th birthday and is now partially paralyzed. Seeing her go through all of this, having to retrain herself to do basic skills like brush her hair but still have her spirit and zest for life on a slightly different path is so inspiring to be strong in life.

My late mother is the woman I’ll always look up to! Raising five children made her a strong woman. Her love for her kids and constant desire to want to do things for us continued even after a fatal fall after which the doctor gave five years to live. Kudos to this amazing woman!

Sara Blakely, the billionaire inventor of Spanx and mom of four, is truly an inspirational force and is “committed to the belief that we would all be in a much better place if half the human race (women) were empowered to prosper, invent, be educated, start their own businesses, run for office – essentially be given the chance to soar!”

My mom taught me that our excessive pursuit of comfort is overrated. She has fearlessly pursued novelty and challenge throughout her life – and she inspires me to chase after experiences that I will grow from.
